Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in power within the city.
Note: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of characters who will split off from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the developments of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each member has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
- Kattigan knows Timmony and advises that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the party enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, Teor swore a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.
What’s Next?
